OPEN CALL
Body landscaping and corporeality is an open call for a group exhibition curated by Anna Galeeva at Zimmer48 in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Eligibility: The open call is open to international artists and artists of all backgrounds.
Feasibility note (size/weight): Due to the venue’s architectural features and multiple levels, extremely large or heavy works may not be feasible. Works will be assessed in relation to installation needs and spatial conditions at Zimmer48.
CONCEPT
This exhibition continues the curator’s long-term line Body Landscapes, previously articulated as Body Landscapes in 2 acts (Berlin, 2025) — a “two-act composition” conceived with a theatrical logic: separate scenes that breathe as one, forming a continuous field of perception. In May 2026, the project unfolds in Zimmer48 as a site where the body can be read as terrain — and terrain as body.
I’m looking for finished works that approach corporeality as a spatial condition: skin as horizon, scar as topography, breath as architecture; gestures that shape relief; materials that hold warmth, pressure, erosion, and care. Works may move between intimacy and geology, the domestic and the environmental, the image and the lived body — where boundaries soften and re-form through light, texture, and proximity.
ABOUT THE CURATOR
Anna Galeeva is a curator, project manager, and producer. Since 2018 she has worked in cultural fundraising and has supported numerous cultural projects; she also teaches art management and mentors projects.
Further information: Instagram and CV.
MEDIA FOCUS (traditional; finished works only)
This open call focuses on traditional media, even if the curator’s broader practice also includes digital contexts.
Please apply with finished works in the following media: painting, drawing, graphic works, printmaking, sculpture, object-based work, textile, photography (including analog), collage, mixed traditional techniques, and small-scale installation built primarily from traditional materials.
IMPORTANT: FINISHED WORKS ONLY
Only completed works can be submitted. Works-in-progress, proposals to be produced, or projects dependent on major new production will not be considered.
NUMBER OF SELECTED PROJECTS
10 projects will be selected.
DATES
Exhibition week: 11–17 May 2026
The exhibition will take place as an intensive one-week format, accompanied by a series of curatorial events, conversations, and public moments. A detailed programme will follow.
SELECTION PROCESS
Selections are made by the curator based on: relevance to the concept, artistic quality, feasibility for Zimmer48, installation requirements, and the overall exhibition composition. If a conflict of interest occurs, the curator will disclose it and consult an external advisor for that specific decision.
PARTICIPATION FEE (paid open call)
Participation in the open call is paid. The participation fee is 20 €.
The fee is non-refundable after submission and does not guarantee selection.
FUNDING AND TRANSPARENCY
This open call is part of a self-funded exhibition model. The participation fee helps cover essential exhibition production costs (venue baseline, installation, documentation, communication, and administration). After the exhibition, a short expense overview will be published to ensure transparency.
SALES
Selected works may be offered for sale during the exhibition.
In the case of a sale, a 45% commission from the declared artwork price will be retained by the gallery. The commission applies only to works that are sold. There are no additional fees related to sales.
