Fractured | Vladimir Kordiukov retrospective

15 March – 26 May 2024
Solo retrospective at Kordallery

A rare view into over two decades of textile-based visual research, Fractured presents Vladimir Kordiukov’s hybrid language of painting, fabric, and form. Combining mixed media with layered batik techniques, this retrospective reveals a body of work where stained-glass luminosity meets the texture of ruins and dreams.

Kordiukov’s approach to textile art is marked by extraordinary precision — a jeweler’s sensibility applied to fabric. Blending hot and cold batik, he manipulates textiles through successive layers of dye, enamel, acrylic, varnish, and found material. Metallic foils, synthetic fabrics, scorched textures, stitched paper: the surface becomes both image and object, echoing architecture, mosaic, and sacred craft.

Visually, the works resonate with the logic of stained glass and the fragmented rhythm of 20th-century abstraction. Figures, mythologies, dreamlike cityscapes — each painting invites close viewing, revealing embedded details like forgotten stories, layered and glowing. There is a tension between control and eruption, color and char, sacred line and playful deviation.
